Instagram recently added the ability to share your NFT from your crypto wallet to your profile.

We have been waiting for this feature for some time, and it’s good to see Instagram join the likes of Twitter and Reddit.

Read along to know how to post an NFT on Instagram.

Share your NFT on Instagram

What you need

Before we get started, this article assumes that you already have a wallet. If you don’t then head on over to our guide on how to setup a free MetaMask wallet.

You also need to have some NFTs in your wallet. If you don’t, we recommend the beautiful collection, Bubble Friends Forever, as your first NFT.

Connecting your wallet to Instagram

  1. Click on the horizontal lines on the top right corner of the app and when the menu options open up, select “digital collectibles” and go through the “tutorial”.
Click on “Digital Collectibles” and go through the “tutorial” to start the process of being able to share your NFTs on Instagram.

2. Select your preferred wallet and click “continue and agree”. We used MetaMask (See our tutorial on how to setup a MetaMask wallet), but feel free to use your favourite wallet.

Select your preferred wallet type and then click “continue and agree”
Go through the steps to connect your wallet to instagram. Always be careful of what you sign.

You will be asked to verify your wallet by “opening your MetaMask”, “connect” it to instagram, and “sign” to connect. Always make sure to check what kind of authorization you are signing. Your wallet will then be connected to instagram — click “ok”.

Once you are connected, you will be able to view all your NFTs. And you can then begin to showcase your digital collectibles on instagram.

Note: Be cautious of the collectibles because this does not filter out the scammy/suspicious ones.

Once you click “OK” you will be able to see all your available digital collectibles that you can begin to share on instagram. Click on a collectible from the list (make sure it is not a scammy one)

Sharing an NFT as a post on Instagram

  1. Go to the digital collectibles page, select the wallet and the collectible that you want to share.

Other features

Connect more than one wallet

Yes you can connect more than one wallet to your instagram account. They don’t even need to be from the same wallet provider.

To add another wallet, you need to get to your digital collectible page, once you have added a wallet. And on the top right, it will give you the option to “Add Wallet”.

When you click this, you will have the option to then go through the process of selection another wallet as you did in the beginning.

Disconnect your wallet

If you decided you don’t want Zuckerberg to know your wallet address, you can disconnecting your wallets from Instagram.

You do this by going to your digital collectibles, selecting your wallet and then clicking on the three dots on the top right corner.

Disconnecting your wallet

Don’t worry, your posts don’t automatically get deleted once you disconnect your wallet.

This is just the beginning

Since this is a really new feature, we’re sure that Meta will be adding more functionality to this in the future. For now the NFT sharing only works on Instagram and Facebook. We’re sure this will soon expand to Meta’s other apps.

Just like Twitter has a verified NFT PFP as your Profile picture, maybe Meta will start adding these features too.

Time will tell.
